Artist's Statement

I attended Plymouth College of Art and Design in England and completed a National Diploma in Graphics and Printing. After spending two years on the diploma, I decided that the artistic side of graphics was my passion and continued my studies at The University of Exeter in England where I completed my Bachelor's in Art and Design (Honours). Throughout university I focused on 3D arts particularly creating sculptures, working with mediums such as metal, stone, concrete and ceramic mosaic. Since arriving in Canada my interests have turned to painting and pottery.

For this website I will eventually be uploading images of my pottery, but for now I have added an assortment of my latest paintings. For this collection I have explored colour and texture in acrylic and mixed media. My love of nature and the beauty of the countryside is the driving force behind the concepts explored in my work. This year, I have started my journey into the world of abstract art and the concept of collage. I have always been drawn towards abstract painting but up until now I have found the concept daunting. I feel it is right time to let loose and experiment. I have been sampling other ways of achieving texture and colour using acrylic mediums and different papers to create organic texture and stylized design. Through these pieces I have worked to incorporate the heightened depth of field of sculpture and the bold colour palates of graphic design to create a style of abstracted surrealism.
